About us

All Informationen about KOMM MIT

We are an independent, private, non-profit organisation that has been promoting solidarity among children and young people in Europe for more than 35 years. The focus is on intercultural youth encounters.

With specially organised sports events, with an Olympic character, we bring together over 25,000 children and young people from over 60 different nations in several European countries every year. Through the sporting and cultural programme, the children and young people learn important and sustainable values for social coexistence. Mutual respect, the acceptance of differences and the recognition of the achievements of others are fundamental values for a peaceful and solidary coexistence.

In addition to international understanding, KOMM MIT promotes gender equality, volunteerism (and thus a sustainable association life), health education and advocates for peaceful coexistence in Europe through various projects. Learn more!

Our history

Founding

1983

KOMM MIT was founded by Karl-Heinz Reinartz in Bonn and has been promoting children's and youth football at grassroots level ever since. Initially with a broader range of sports on the market, Karl-Heinz Reinartz quickly realises that football is a global means of communication and therefore focuses solely on this sport.

1st International Whitsun Tournament in Spain

1984

In Spain, the 1st International Whitsun Tournament takes place as the starting signal for many other KOMM MIT tournament events that still exist there today. It was played at the CD Malgrat club and - as was customary at the time - was played on clay courts. Started with around 450 participants in 1984, the International Whitsun Tournament now has around 3000 participants.

Start of the ongoing cooperation with the DFB

1993

Since 1993, KOMM MIT and the DFB have been closely linked through their cooperation, which continues to this day. In the course of this cooperation, KOMM MIT promotes voluntary work and thus club life at the grassroots level, as well as the footballing future of numerous children and young people, through a variety of projects.

1998

KOMM MIT is launching an incomparable support project: the promotion of associations! Since 1998, KOMM MIT has supported clubs with more than 100,000 jerseys and 40,000 balls, not to mention travel grants in the form of free seats for tournament participation. One of the longest measures in this area.

International tournament in Leipzig for the 100th anniversary of the DFB

2000

To mark the 100th anniversary of the DFB, KOMM MIT is organising an unprecedented international youth football tournament in its founding city of Leipzig, inviting U16 teams from all UEFA nations. A great project that was unparalleled more than 20 years ago!

1st tournament under the auspices of UEFA in Spain

2008

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, KOMM MIT is organising the first ALLtogether - european youth football festival under the patronage of UEFA at the tournament location in Spain and inviting U15 teams from all UEFA nations. The KOMM MIT song "We are Europe" was written for this occasion and is still catchy with many listeners today.

2014

KOMM MIT is using the World Cup in Brazil as an opportunity to organise its second ALLtogether - european youth football festival. This time it will take place at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. In this edition of the tournament series, the invited U13 teams from all UEFA nations take centre stage and put their skills to the test.

2016

The 1st Football Hero Education Trip to Spain opens a new chapter in the cooperation with the DFB. Winners of the title "Football Hero" were thanked for their commitment to youth football during a 5-day workshop trip, they are honoured, promoted and motivated.

2020/21

Under the motto "save the spirit of football", KOMM MIT is fighting the Covid-19-pandemic and the resulting tournament cancellations and loss of revenue. KOMM MIT nevertheless manages to repay all client funds and to initiate new, exciting, promising projects, which the KOMM MIT team takes as an opportunity to look optimistically to the future.

KOMM MIT is planning Europe's largest girls' football festival for October in Croatia, offering young female footballers from all over Europe a unique platform for international encounters on and off the football pitch. #girlpower
